I have lots of photographer pals that convert some of their images to Black & White. Usually their process is to capture images and during the editing process they think “Gee, I wonder what this would look like as monochrome.” My thought process is a little different. I usually see a scene and before even getting the camera on a tripod I know it’s final destination is B&W. When I saw this scene on a rainy morning on the shores of Crescent Lake, WA, I knew it was going to be converted to B&W. Frankly, the color version doesn’t excite me at all…but then, I never really saw it in my mind as a color image.
